BIOGRAPHY
Stephanie Lempres is a contemporary abstract artist based in California.
Stephanie first exhibited her paintings in a small pop-up gallery on Rue des Saints-Pères in Paris’s 6th arrondissement while living in the city from 2021 - 2022. Her simple, elegant, small-scale geometric paintings were inspired by Paris’s architecture, design and interiors. All proceeds from her show, “Bienvenue à L’Eté” were donated to charity.
Now, living near the coast of California, Stephanie’s paintings have evolved to include landscapes, botanicals and colorful abstracts, inspired by the sea and sky, the beautiful space and light found in this region of the western United States.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
My paintings are complex layered planes of color, bold brush strokes and alternating fine lines, loose mark making and careful technique, a departure from pure color field painting. I work to create contrasting, complementing and ultimately compelling relationships within my work, creating an aesthetic experience for the viewer, giving an invitation to look closer. My paintings reference an endless summer, a window of time for dreaming and possibility, and a connection to nature and her infinite beauty.
I work to create fresh modern designs with an underlying classic, traditional sensibility, which are appropriate for traditional, transitional and modern spaces.
